Often times, it is difficult to fathom the fact that the sexual abuse happened in the first place, but then to know how to support the Survivor can feel overwhelming. It is important that both you and the Survivor have support.
1 in 3 people are Sexually abused. This is an alarming statistic that affects many of our Loved Ones. There is not a lot of awareness and education present around Sexual Abuse, which can sometimes leave you feeling helpless. You want to support your Loved One, but you are also struggling yourself. How Would Therapy Help Me?Therapy can both provide you support and education. Education on not only how to support your Loved One, but also how to support you. Education can be helpful in knowing that your Loved One is experiencing normal effects of the abuse. Abuse is destructive and causes for much disruption not only in the Survivors life, but also Loved Ones. Many times, relationships are affected greatly by abuse and the Survivor is often left seeking for survival and this can cause for a lot of unknowns.
